The first example of metal nitrate fluoride NLO material, Pb2 (NO3 ) 2 (H2 O)F2 , would be reported with the largest second harmonic generation (SHG) effect (12 × KDP) among nitrates. Synergistic effect of approximately optimized arrangement of [NO3 ] – groups and lone pair electrons in Pb2+, combined with superimposed enhanced polarization of PbO9F2 polyhedrons lead to the super-strong SHG effect.
