Planet of the APE(‐PPI)s! A blue–green emitting material (APE‐PPI) containing a 1‐(9‐anthryl)‐2‐phenylethene (t‐APE) core and a phenanthroimidazole (PI) moiety was synthesized. APE‐PPI was conveniently obtained in good yield by using a palladium‐catalyzed Suzuki coupling reaction. Furthermore, a white organic light‐emitting diode (WOLED) was fabricated by employing APE‐PPI as a blue–green emitting layer and 4‐(dicyanomethylene)‐2‐tert‐butyl‐6‐(1,1,7,7‐tetramethyljulolidin‐4‐yl‐vinyl)‐4H‐pyran (DCJTB) doped in tris‐(8‐hydroxyquinolinato)aluminum (Alq3) as a red–green emitting layer, realizing three‐color emission with a high color rendering index (CRI) of 85. This value is already sufficient for many commercial lighting applications.
