Ionic‐liquid‐modified magnetic nanoparticles as a solid‐phase extraction adsorbent coupled with high‐performance liquid chromatography for the determination of linear alkylbenzene sulfonates in water samples

The front cover picture shows ionic liquid (IL) functionalized Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles (IL@SiO2@Fe3O4) that can facilitate the interaction with linear alkylbenzene sulfonates (LAS) via the electrostatic, hydrophobic, and π‐π interactions. Four kinds of LAS (including sodium decylbenzenesulfonate, sodium undecylbenzenesulfonate, sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate, sodium tridecylbenzenesulfonat) were selected as model compounds to evaluate the applicability of IL@SiO2@Fe3O4 for extraction followed by HPLC‐UV analysis. This work proved that the obtained IL@SiO2@Fe3O4 is an effective absorbent to extract trace LAS from environmental water samples.
